In the High Court of Tanzania, at Dodoma, the Appellant was
arraigned for murder, contrary to sections 196 and 197 of the Penal Code,
Chapter 16 of the Laws. The Appellant denied the accusation but, after a full
trial, he was found guilty, convicted and handed down the mandatory death
sentence. Being aggrieved he filed this appeal advancing several grounds
including that the trial court in convicting the Appellant relied on
contradictory evidence and that assessors were allowed to cross examine
witnesses instead of putting questions to them.
