The Appellants were charged with armed robbery before a primary court. They were convicted and sentenced to 30 years of imprisonment. They unsuccessfully appealed to the District Court. Dissatisfied with the decision of the District Court they appealed to the High Court. In the High Court, the issue was whether the primary court had jurisdiction to try the offence of armed robbery.
