The Appellant and three other, who were acquitted by the
trial court, were together arraigned before the District Court on two different
offences relating to possession and dealing in Government trophies. The
Appellant was found guilty on the first count. He was sentenced to serve 8
years’ imprisonment. He unsuccessfully appealed to the High Court at Mwanza
against “conviction” and sentence, hence this second appeal. His conviction was
based on caution statement on which the trial court admitted without holding
any enquiry. The Appellant also denied to have made the said statement.
