This appeal originates from the High Court at Dodoma, which affirmed the Judgment of the Resident Magistrate’s Court of Dodoma, which convicted the Appellants, on two counts, namely, Leading Organized Crime and Unlawful Dealing in Trophies. Following their convictions, each Appellant was sentenced to serve ten years in prison for the first count, and two years in prison in the second count. The trial magistrate ordered the sentences in the two counts to run concurrently. On appeal to the High Court, the first appellate Judge expunged the first Appellant’s caution statement on the ground that the trial magistrate had failed to determine first its voluntariness before its exhibition.
